about roberto

July was a busy month for me and I was fortunate to had a few fun weddings and do some creative work.
August looked a bit slow for me, so I decided to take a break and recharge for my next busy month (September).
My friend Ella, who lives in Belize with his boyfriend Ian had invited me to come over a few months ago to visit and to help them out with some photography. Ian owns a very cool jungle lodge in the middle of the country called Cave’s Branch, an adventure type lodge for people who want to have a few fun (extreme if you will) experiences in the jungle. I was here in March and had a great time doing some of the activities like cave tubing, rapelling, cave waterfall treking…

Ian asked me if I could help him out with some photos for his website and for the new print material. it was an offer I couldn’t refuse really… Getting to see my best friend and doing my favorite job while doing some fun adrenaline filled activities…

So yesterday I joined the group that went rapelling. We went to this place called the “black hole”. Quite appropriate for the adventure… It is a huge sink hole that has some pretty high drops on each side. At the bottom there is a big cave that goes god knows where, but it is where Cave’s branch organizes the “heney moon” overnight expedition. You sleep inside this cave in a nicely decorated “suite” ;).

Anyway, back to yesterday’s excursion. We hiked for about an hour to get to the drop off point. It has been raining a lot in Belize in the past few weeks, so it was pretty muddy and slippery. That’s part of the fun in this place !!

The drop that we rapelled was about 250 ft tall. yup 250ft.

Here are a couple of photos from today:
