about roberto

When it comes to choosing your wedding venue in one of the greatest cities in the world, quite a few factors can dictate where and when you wed. Location, style, and capacity are going to be your biggest deciding factors (aside from budget, of course). Consider the locations you want to to incorporate into your wedding photography and parts of the city that mean something to you as a couple. Central Park, Grand Central Station, the Brooklyn Bridge, or a great NYC skyline aren’t always easily accessible for photo-ops—unless you plan accordingly.

The Plaza Hotel

C’mon, even if you’re more of a DIY farmhouse bride, you’ve daydreamed at least once what it would be like to get married at the Plaza. We’re pretty sure it’s as close as you can get to feeling like royalty.

New York Botanic Gardens

No matter the season, let the stunning landscape of The New York Botanical Garden create the perfect backdrop for your wedding. In the spring, surround yourself with the lush English roses in the manicured formal rose garden. In the summer, let the softly rushing sounds of the Bronx river accompany your ceremony. In the fall, the vibrant foliage will set the stage for a wedding filled with color. In the winter, imagine the perfect snowy backdrop, complete with berried holly and stunning pines, for your wedding photography.

The Wagner

This stunning hotel in the city features elegant indoor event spaces that couples will love to host their sophisticated wedding. Their luxurious environment will certainly elevate your wedding and make it one neither you or your guests will forget.

Central Park Boat House

Perhaps the most quintessentially New York spot to get married is Central Park, and where better to get married in Central Park than on a terrace or in windowed room overlooking the lake in The Boathouse?

Capacity – Minimum of 80-165, depending on the evening; maximum of 230 at seated meal with dancing. More space may be available for an additional fee.

Central Park (near E. 72nd St.); 212-517-2233 or thecentralparkboathouse.com

Brooklyn Botanic Gardens

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden is nestled in the heart of Brooklyn, a magnificent oasis featuring exquisite trees, pastoral lawns, and flower borders. It is the ideal location for any style of wedding, whether it’s an afternoon ceremony amid seasonal flowers or a dance party reception underneath the stars. They offer two event spaces; the first one is The Palm House, a charming glass-walled venue that can accommodate up to 275 guests and sits right next to the garden’s Lily Pool Terrace. The Atrium is the second option, a stunning living garden boasting floor-to-ceiling glass walls overlooking the garden’s Cherry Esplanade.

990 Washington Ave. (at President St.), Brooklyn; 718-307-7133 or bbg.org

Liberty Warehouse

If you’re looking for a space with breathtaking views of downtown Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty, then consider Liberty Warehouse. It has multiple room sizes to cater to any size event, in addition to details like fireplaces, exposed columns, and westward facing views to capture the sunsets.

260 Conover St. (at Beard St.), Brooklyn; 347-987-3121 or thelibertywarehouse.com

The Foundry

Not exactly in Brooklyn, but we want to include it here, because it is a really cool place. The Foundry is a completely customizable venue that features an industrial-chic main room on the ground floor as well as a mezzanine boasting exposed brick walls, a soaring glass-topped ceiling with exposed beams, and multiple archways. They also have three additional spaces that can be rented along with the main room. These include The Courtyard & Tent, The Foundry Terrace, and The Foundry Greenhouse. In the courtyard, an ivy-covered courtyard filled with plants provides stunning views of the Queensboro Bridge. On the terrace, guests will revel in gorgeous views of both the bridge and the Manhattan skyline. The enclosed greenhouse features weathered brick walls and a skylight ceiling.

42-38 Ninth St. (between Queens Plaza S. and 43rd Ave.), Queens; 718-786-7776 or thefoundry.info

W Hotel – Union Square

New York Wedding Photographer

A structure boasting old-school grandeur with typical New York City avant-garde style, their location is at the crossing of uptown and downtown neighborhoods, with easy access to The Village, Chelsea Market, and the Greenmarket in Union Square.

Pratt House

Ideal for wedding ceremonies and receptions, this venue features six rooms all with cathedral ceilings, fireplaces, and antique chandeliers connected by a majestic marble staircase. The Mansion Ballroom offers memorable views of Park Avenue through its gracious double-height windows.

58 East 68th Street New York, NY 10065 – www.pratthouse.com

Gotham Hall

The former headquarters of the Greenwich Savings Bank, Gotham Hall boasts a magnificent Art Deco ballroom with a seven-story-tall grand vaulted dome. It has played host to everything from a Zac Posen fashion show to a Grammy after-party and of course countless weddings. While Newspace can hold up to 1200 guests, sweeping sheer curtains can make the space more intimate without blocking the hall’s amazing architecture of Corinthian columns and marble floors. visit: Gotham Hall
